Each wheel has its own motor and controller, so a fault that feels like a single drivetrain problem may sit in one corner of the car. We test each motor, inverter and wheel-speed input separately instead of replacing a whole assembly on suspicion.

On range-extender models, yes. The petrol engine works as a generator rather than driving the wheels, but it still needs oil, filters and coolant service on schedule, and we include it in the vehicle's service plan.
